I spent months working 12 hour days cleaning floors and taking wallpaper down with one baby strapped to my back while the other babies were climbing inside the playpen. Ha! It was all falling into place, however there was still a long way to go. For furnishing the space, it was going to be a huge effort both in budget and time. Also, I had to go out and shop for my most-loved items. To keep within the budget, I started going with my boys to estate sales looking for of diamonds. The weekly ritual was that we would walk through garage and estate sales on Fridays and Saturdays and purchase a variety of new and old pieces. My next task was to spend the rest of my time painting and sanding out in the driveway. It was a bit like this... This is when my interest in restoration of furniture started. The issue was not whether the home was furnished. At the local market, I rented a small space, and also sold objects. Eventually I had more pieces that I had no idea about and had outgrown the space. There were open houses at my house where over 1 000 people came through on a single weekend and could purchase whatever they saw in the first floor. This is where my business Growing Days was born. While my company grew and so did our small family. As a mom of a child I was able to strike the right way to be able to begin my own business as well as be a good mother. Growing Days fit perfectly. My beautiful Nora came into the world in 2013, which was our fourth child. My company was doing well however I needed a break. I decided to slow down and stay at home, with my family. This was just what I was looking for. Within a couple of months, the phone began to start to. There were calls from people asking me to assist them in interior decor and home renovations. A majority of them were people who visited my home in my open houses for furniture. Once I had a few months I began to take on customers in my own way. Soon I had multiple accounts, as well as a house renovations business. You would probably have amused me if I had told you that this was going to be the subject of an DIY Network tv series. If I think back, it makes me smile.
